Joe Bruno said he would leave New York's State Senate seat sooner than later.
Sooner is Friday.
His ride into the sunset includes a stop home today. Bruno will announce $16 million in funding for a long-planned expansion of the convention hall’s exhibit and banquet space at the Saratoga Springs City Center.
Still, one can't help but wonder about the timing of it all. Bruno's departure comes as the Republicans limp into a statewide election where they appear more and more likely to lose Bruno's beloved senate majority, the one he reigned over for a political generation. The one he served for 32 years.
Still no word from authorities investigating Bruno's business dealings. The last time that part of the story was raised, Bruno responded to a reporter's question by saying "You always take one more question than you should."
