Rochester business leaders got a sneak preview Thursday of what the city has planned for the still slumbering Port of Rochester terminal.
The facility, outside of a few eateries on its first floor, has remained dormant since the fast ferry headed east. It's a spectacular address with no magnetic vision. Rochester's responded by going back to the future and getting back into the nightclub business.

A high end bistro will open on the port's second floor, complete with indoor and outdoor seating and entertainment.
"If we're going to make progresss, we have to take that step forward," said Duffy administration economic development chief Carlos Carballada during the event held for members of the Rochester Business Alliance.
But didn't this sort of idea fail once before in another part of Roc City?
When the city tried to make High Falls a destination, it opened the Centers at High Falls. A few generations of private partners later, it's an empty shell and High Falls remains a place the public thinks is interesting, but rarely seeks out.

"I think what we have to do is seek private investment and make is palpable for people," mayor Bob Duffy said 19 months ago after the last major entertainment developer pulled out of High Falls.
