Why is it that anytime someone asks"will the Buffalo Bills stay after Ralph Wilson?", the players in the game always have a "don't worry" response?
It happened again Monday at St. John Fisher College after U.S. Senator Charles Schumer, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Wilson gathered behind closed doors at Bills training camp.
It may have been just a photo-op. Goodell told reporters again how the league wants the Bills to stay in western New York and how the games scheduled for Toronto turn the itsy-bitsy Buffalo market into a regional super-market that ranks with the Washingtons and Bostons.
“When Ralph and the commissioner and I get together we talk about how we can further strengthen the Bills,” Schumer said. “We’ve had good luck so far and we’re going to keep working and working at it.
Schumer bristled when asked about the Bills post-Wilson. "Disrespectful" is what the senior senator said about discussing such a thing. Then Schumer gave that Capitol Hill smile and said, "Don't worry... I am confident in the Bills’ future because of these two leaders. Our goal is to make the Bills in Buffalo as strong as possible so they will stay here a very long time.’’

Whether it's Schumer, or Bills legend Jim Kelly constantly reassuring everyone the Bills will stay in Buffalo, or Goodell fielding questions about potential Bills buyers like Mario Cuomo and another legendary Bills QB, Jack Kemp, there is a growing a body of evidence that suggests all of the closed door meetings Wilson has these days have more to do with some unspoken agreement to maintain the franchise in this corner of the NFL map.

Even the region's heavyweight sports owners, Tom Golisano, Jeremy Jacobs and Bob Rich, spread the "don't worry" message.
Keep in mind, if you're Ralph Wilson, and you're on record saying that, when you leave us, you'll sell to the highest bidder, it wouldn't be good business to put restrictions on it. Restrictions like the team has to stay in Buffalo. So you say nothing. That gets fans worried about places like Toronto, or Los Angeles.

But then again, you have had opportunities in the past to move before. And you haven't. And even though California or Canadian dollars could bring your family riches, there just may be something to legacy that'll make you do things, behind close doors, to ensure it.
So you invite the Commish and the Senator to breakfast in Pittsford. And you have them spread the message. And you say nothing, as Wilson did Monday.
And you thought Three Men in a Room only happened in Albany?
